Cryopak, a leader in temperature control packaging and temperature monitoring devices has expanded it Montreal operations.

Montreal, Canada – Cryopak Industries, a division of Integreon Global, is expanding its Montreal location this year. This new addition, which gives the facility a total of 170,000 square feet of space, builds on a previous expansion in 2015, which took the space from 30,000 square feet to 100,000 square feet. This expansion, along with space optimization, has increased warehouse capacity by around 140%.

As a site that primarily supports food and pharmaceutical industries, the growth of the Montreal location goes beyond facility space. This location is now equipped with a multi chamber thermal testing lab for ISTA testing. Montreal also hosts Cryopak’s sister company LaunchworksCDMO, a manufacturing optimization center. An additional 125 employees have been hired, and a top-notch Facilities Engineering team has been assembled to develop infrastructure and automation.

In terms of automation, Montreal is taking a substantial leap forward.

Matti Tehrani, Engineering Project Director, states “Automation allows robots and machines to complete missions with minimal human intervention. The principle is to free our people from the repetitive tasks that machines and robots could perform in a better and more efficient way so our laborers can focus on the more sophisticated creative challenges. A couple of years ago, the Cryopak engineering team created a five-year plan to achieve a fully automated factory, from the raw materials automated feeding system to palletizing the final products,” he adds. “So far, more than fifty percent of the objective has been achieved successfully and hopefully we will see our fully high-tech automated factory at the end of 2023.”

This investment in automation at the Montreal facility is one that Cryopak plans to apply further as the company continues to grow. Additional robots will be added to production, with at least one planned to reside at a future plant. The expectation for this development is that all Cryopak plants will be connected through automation.

General Manager, Mark Barakat added, “We want to thank our customers, business partners, and especially our employees for being a part of our growth journey over the past 10 years. We are excited to be a part of the Anjou/Montreal business community and are humbled by the dedication that our team has to maintaining our high-quality standards. As the Cryopak brand continues to grow, we look to our Montreal facility to be an example for facilities we will be opening in the future.”
